An ancient healing art, and bodywork therapy, Thai Massage originated in India 2500 years ago and developed through Asia to Thailand where it is still widely practiced today. (In fact, when I studied in Chiang Mai, I saw that T. M. was used like a prescription for many heath issues relating to digestion, fatigue, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, and post surgery recovery.) This unique healing art, is like having yoga “done” to you, as the recipient moves through a series of yoga poses and stretches accompanied by breathing instructions given by the practitioner. This practice follows Yogic principles that focus on releasing toxins and tension while clearing blocks in the energy system of the body, which feels like having your inner circuitry cleaned out. The therapist rhythmically applies palm and thumb pressure gently along the 10 main energy lines to free the flow of Prana (breath or life force). The goal of Thai Massage is to increase the energy flow within the body which supports the body's natural healing process, therefore promoting good health. The recipient leaves feeling lighter, clearer and more flexible. Body awareness increases enhancing your ability to understand what you may need to regain balance. It is in a balanced state that we are able to fight off illness best. You simply show up with comfortable clothes, an empty stomach and breathe. Benefits include:Releasing of tension and stress both in body and mind, improving blood and lymph flow, increase energy flow, balance and flexibility all of which boosts the immune system bringing an overall sense of well-being. |
