Ambiance
This is a small glimpse of what people are experiencing at the Yoga House:
I find now that people are coming not just to learn yoga, but, because they love to be in the backyard before and after class. They love to connect to nature, to the trees, to the sound of the wind that dances through the over one hundred year old oaks that bend over the property. They love to walk the labyrinth of the spiral patio.
We watch children, baby carriages go by on the walking path, along with a multitude of dog walkers, cyclists, and wheel chairs. When the wind is not blowing, you can hear the small stream down at the bottom. This walking path is enjoyed by students to help them relax even more after class, the fall time is amazing.
I have students/clients that actually come by just to sit in the ravine. Hawks and eagles(!) fly overhead.
Last week a student walked in and thought there was water running somewhere, she looked at me, and I said, “it’s the wind in the trees.” “It sounds like waves crashing!” We all sat in amazement listening.
These are just a few of the examples of the buzz that people are experiencing when they come.
I particularly love sharing the chocolate that my sweetie, Manny makes. We will have it after class. It is so healthy (only three ingredients) with the cocoa beans coming straight from Mexico (only one “middle man”—horizontal trading). It is so high in anti-oxidants and iron that everyone skips out of here. Giggling is rampant. I sometimes wonder if they come for yoga or chocolate.
One of my favourite moments, (no that’s not true, I have given up on “favourite” moments—they are too numerous) is the kids in Family Yoga. When they first come, they often ask if they can stay overnight! Our studio is our home and we have an amazing “tree house” upstairs that we meditate/live in and we love to share it. Kids (everyone) love to be in it.
All of this has given me so much joy. Building the Yoga House 2 years ago was the biggest project I have ever known. It cost me $170,000 more than anticipated. I had to sue the contractor, I had to face fines and resistance related to zoning, and I learned to be a warrior and practice compassion.
When people first come, they look at me with wide eyed amazement and tell me how incredible the “energy” is here. Yes, it is incredible. I have learned that when you follow your dream, forget the nasty details and speed bumps that try to deflate your vision, the outcome is compelling and heart-felt by those who share it with you. I see that people understand this when they walk in, it is my favourite moment. Yes. This is what living your dream is all about. If you build it they will come is not only true, it opens you up to your next offering, your next big project and shows you that by doing so, you evoke the desire in those around you to do the same. I have learned that by creating the environment where I can teach and use my skill set as an empathic, prophetic, intimate teacher I can reach people in a way that truly touches them and their personal needs (inspiration to stop addictions, let go of worries, release pain and trauma, repair injuries). This is so rewarding that I expect and know you will want to feel this too. Do come, experience the ravine, the nature, the laughter, the yoga swing, the hammock. Get swinging, breathing and sharing to know the tribe experience. We all love to laugh, we all love to do yoga in a way where we get the attention and adjustments that we need. We all want enough room to spread out on the mat and have the instructor address our personal needs. Welcome to the Yoga House. I look so forward to sharing this Yoga House ambiance with you.
Your (empathic, prophetic, intimate) teacher,
Celeste
